Summer was longer when I was a kid.

I can't believe it's already mid-July. I've fallen behind on posting, but it's mainly because I've been busy. I photographed Lady Zen, an amazing jazz poet and singer in Portland. I highly recommend checking her out if you're in the area. I went on another photo adventure with Tara and Erika, with Erika as my model. This time we headed up to Fryeburg, Maine. I'm really happy with how that shoot came out. I feel good about where my portraiture is headed, and I'm itching to shoot more. Unfortunately, I've mostly been busy with the business end of the photo world. The good news is my website has been updated. I added a bunch of new images, and changed the way the gallery pages are displayed. I'm also working on printed promos to send out to potential clients.

Of course, I've also been trying to enjoy summer! I went to some barbecues, met some new people, and made some photos.

Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of months. Check out jennarredondo.com for more!

Warm weather. Good friends.

I've recently started taking my camera everywhere with me. As dangerous as this could be, that means taking it out to the bars with my friends. So far, I've been careful, and it's been worth it.

Before heading home a few night ago, I stopped into the new sandwich shop where Nic and Rob work. Rob is the guy in the kitchen:

Heated photo debates are fun, and sometimes result in random souvenirs:

I photographed my friend, Biggs, for a while last night. I think he's my new favorite model. I love all of these images individually, but I felt they needed to be shown together for maximum impact:

Oh, Amigos. Even if I sometimes get tired of going there every week, it still feels like home as soon as I walk in the door. I know all my best friends will be there, and new friends are waiting to be made.

Aimless Adventuring Pt. 2

I meant to get these up a few days ago, but I've been busy this week. After leaving the abandoned hospital in Biddeford, Tara, Erika and I found our way to Goose Rocks Beach. I haven't really played with artificial light outside before, so I set my flash up on the beach, and we played with light for a couple of hours. Here are the best ones from my batch:

Aimless adventuring.

It's 2:30am, and I should be in bed, but I've been working on a boatload of new photos. I spent the day adventuring with fellow photographers, Tara and Erika. First stop was an abandoned hospital in Biddeford, Maine. This place was creepy. Almost every window was busted out. A television had obviously been thrown to the ground from one of the floors above. It also sounded like there were people inside. Pretty creepy all around, but still beautiful.

Tomorrow, I'll post a few photos from our second stop: the beach.

Cute things.

I braved treacherous winds today to have my first shoot with my friend, Mal. I really like her look and personality, and I look forward to working with her in the future. I also got to play with her two-week-old kittens!

Motivation.

I don't know why it's taken me this long. Maybe art school burned me out. Well, there's no maybe about it. It did. I put the camera down for awhile. But it's time to pick it up again. I'm happiest when I'm photographing, and it's taken a few years to realize that.

So this is my first post. I'm sort of backlogged with images right now, as I'm trying to get my website up and running. I've been shooting as much as possible, and I have multiple projects in the works. Once things have settled down, I'll post new images on a regular basis.

Let me be clear. I have no idea what I'm doing. My head is reeling. I'm stumbling along, camera in hand, figuring things out as I go.

And I couldn't be happier.
